Soundtracks for the Blind is by far my favorite. But I find their post-reunion stuff to be really enjoyable too.

I’m starting to enjoy this somewhat, didn’t think I’d see the day. The aesthetic is certainly more appealing than it was and those harsh thumping sounds no longer sound so unappealing or incessant. Beautifully ugly.

There is way too much experimentation going on here. This album is awful and quite boring.

Going from this and Cop to Children of God in one sitting late at night blew my mind a couple years ago.

"public castration" will always be the pinnacle of this swans era imo. i also like cop more than this tbh

PUBLIC CASTRATION is truly great and one of the special kind of live albums that is so drastically different from the recorded versions of the tracks that I’ve considered giving it a rating anyway (otherwise I never rate live albums šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø).

This is probably my #1 Swans release though. There’s just nothing like it, and while it has a similar kind of masochistic mood as COP, there’s still a faint, underlying…buoyancy (?) that makes it surprisingly easy to listen to. COP is excellent but it’s not something I can just toss on whenever. This, I can.

I know this is supposed to be all dark and crushing but you can't deny how damn fun it sounds to play these songs
