"a shame this was the only album they ever released"
yeah but also there's something to be said for making one perfect album and that's that
then again, City of Caterpillar and Gospel both dropped great comebacks...hope springs eternal

Their "Heart of Corona" EP is awesome too. It's just shy of 40 minutes long too so quite a bit longer than most, tbh I usually count that as their debut.

Word, anyone that likes this shouldn't sleep on it either, it's just as good.

Just listened to this for the first time. Wow, fantastic melodeath.
It's like Be'lakor and old In Flames mixed together with the intensity turned up. Need recommendations similar to this

Dawn is more black metal but it scratches a similar itch

These guys are really one of a kind tbh. You could probably try stuff like Intestine Baalism, Autumn Leaves, Eucharist, Hypocrite, Gates of Ishtar, Sacrilege GBG, The Moaning (ignore the name) etc. I know I'm forgetting some stuff but yeah.
If you want something that's heavy and similarly atmospheric, then go listen to Gorement - The Ending Quest, assuming you haven't heard. It's not mdm but it's still plenty melodic, kinda unique take on Stockholm dm and an absolute classic. Oh, and definitely check out Uncanny as well.
You might also like In Mourning since you like this and Be'lakor, but for sure check out the others if you haven't already.
