Do you play guitar dude? I actually covered a Der Weg Einer Freiheit song on my youtube channel, that was pretty fun. (They have their books on bandcamp) 🤣

Der Weg Einer Frieheit is fucking sick. And yeah man, I love playing guitar.

And yeah I agree with alot of what you are saying. If you take a look at sheet music that orchestra conductors use..
It is madness. Most people whom I know that are good at that tend to go for graduate school cause bachelors just isnt enough to cover all that ground. Me personally I dont think I will ever get to that level. And thats okay.

Sweet man I got a schecter at guitar center for $150 dollars off so it went from a $750 pricepoint to $600 I was so happy lol

I kinda get the mindset of a composer tbh. You just take a part in your head and keep accenting and adding to it again and again. I like writing music a lot as a hobby, though most of it is rock based. As far as instruments, I've just been vibing with my Mexican tele and a strat for the last few years. I wanna get an Epiphone and replace the bridge pickup with a seymour duncan black winter sometime in the near future.

I've been playing guitar for 22 years and I tend to just play in a stream-of-consciousness manner a lot of the time.

Samesies. I'd be a lot better with a focused routine and if I prioritized learning songs more, but I got a lot of my chops from just fucking around until I didn't suck as much lol

I had a 7-string a few years ago and it was great fun to play. That extra low B opened up so many passageways in terms of playing riffs and such.
I grew up on Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth etc. but nowadays I tend to play more djent/metalcore/post metal sort of stuff.

Man those fender baritones seem pretty sick ngl

I want to blend black metal and deathcore mostly but not in the traditional Lorna Shore sound. More like if wolves in the throne room had some core influences.

Metalcore was ground zero for me. I started off on a shitty epiphone special 2, tuning to Drop B, practicing chugs lol. Beating my head against the wall trying to learn Veil of Maya songs in the first couple years, knowing that shit was too hard. I never actually got an extended range guitar but I listened to a lot of stuff played with them, still do now, just less of it. By the time I was in a position to get more instruments, I got more into the idea of doing the most you possibly can with a six string. Like, if you ever listen to Joe Pass, that man had an infinite universe of sound in his finger tips with just a standard six string. D standard is probably my favorite tuning these days, but I like the obtuse challenge of finding bizarre shit to play in standard E. If I'm ever called to make something truly brutal again, I'd probably say Drop B is my fav for that kinda sound. Ulcerate play the hell out of Drop B.

Ulcerate fucking rule man

Struggled with this album for a little bit but it finally clicked. Hard.

I can certainly see how it's a grower, even if it had me at first listen. Like, there's barely anything catchy about it. It even sort of edges you on the brutality and straightforward heaviness that a heavy music fan might look for and really makes you work to make it to the few parts that are more head bangy. Lots of muddy harmony and angular, esoteric bullshit. But that's exactly what makes it so great. I still feel challenged by it today.

My current (and only, now) guitars are Gibson SG Standard and Martin MMV Dreadnaught for acoustic. Had 'em each for about ~17 or 18 years at this point. Lovely guitars. I just wanted to contribute.

yeah, I liked this pretty much immediately for the eerie atmosphere. I just remember thinking it was weird and sinister. It had the evil aura or something

I'm going for it. We'll see if it holds but I'm 5'ing this. Each of the four main tracks is a divine mindfuck. So much to pick through both musically and lyrically. The replay value is through the roof here.
The subtle psychedelic touches are perhaps the pièce de résistance - this feels like black metal on a bad acid trip.

Yahhp best DsO probably, but the competition is fierce. They made some of my favorite bm records ever.
