I normally don't dig too deep into the yes catalog but a song like roundabout is better than excellent it's perfect LOL.Of course theirs plenty of great songs on this album to chose from as they progress so well from one track to another.

Hard to believe Yes wrote an album as good as this, but then followed up with the most disjointed and pretentious piece of garbage.
The album flows well, with short songs serving as interludes that are composed by the individual band members. All those short songs help make the album, but the truly terrific track is Mood for a Day, which has excellent classical guitar playing by Steve Howe.
Opening with Roundabout, the song showcases the talents of Chris Squire whose bass playing drives the song. The song has some funky organ, good vocals, beautiful acoustic guitar, and tasteful synth. Bill Bruford of course kills it on the song with solid drumming and percussion.
South Side of the Sky is another fantastic track with some great harmonies and guitar fills. Rick Wakeman's piano interlude is just superb and Anderson's vocals and also the backing vocals, are a big part of the song.
Long Distance Runaround is another great tune, albeit being more pop. The song is dominated by the bass with synth injecting itself at different times. The syncopation from Bruford on the drums is awesome and the chorus is decent. The song's ending transitions perfectly into the next track, The Fish.
Heart of the Sunrise is the peak of the album and the tightest song Yes has ever written. Beautiful melodies and one of the best bass performances in prog rock. The song has a ton of great moments, from the soft guitar riff before the entrance of Jon Anderon's best vocal performance, to Wakeman transitioning from piano to organ followed by all the other bands members going full speed ahead before ending the song.
The best Yes album, period. Strong musicianship throughout the entire album. The only reason it doesn't deserve a 5 is because of Jon Anderson's outrageously bad lyrics.

Finally jammed this again. There's some great music here. South Side of the Sky and Heart of the Sunrise are easily among my top 5 or top 10 Yes songs.
