This is so much better than Vheissu. I mean if you like long-drawn out post-metal I can see why you'd
prefer Vheissu, that record is king of long songs, but that leads to a lot of repetition. On this record,
a lot of riffs only show up once or twice before they're gone, and I mean by sheer quantity the riffs here
outnumber the riffs on any other thrice. It's just basic math, more riffs > fewer riffs.
Also, this record really takes short song structures to a peak - the power of brevity really shows in
their songwriting. Take the bridge of Kill Me Quickly, or the breakdown of A Subtle Dagger, or the riffing
on In Years to Come. All of these are great examples of Thrice pounding out a short tune with expertise.
And as a bonus, think about Trust. First of all, the resolution from minor to major on the final note is
absolutely perfect, as is the buildup to it. Be prepared for a weird comparison - Trust is like a shorter
version of Glassjaw's Ape Dos Mil. And for that it's all the stronger. While Ape Dos Mil churns along for
like 4 or 5 minutes, Trust barely touches on the chorus before moving to that absolutely stunning ending.
The song is so goddam emotive. "I will truuuuuuuuuuuuust you, cause I know what a promise cannn
doooooooooooooo"
Also the last line on this record "YOU'VE GOT TO PLAY IT AGAAAAAAAAAAAAIN" is reminiscent of Converge's
"RUUUUUUUN OOOOOOOON GIIIIIIIIRL" from Jane Doe. Except much more understandable. When a final line is
that powerful the record really demands to be played again. And in this case it literally demands to be
played again.

I'll agree with you about this record having killer short tracks and a distinct lack of repetition with the riffage

I like this, Artist, and Vheissu about the same. They all have different reasons for being awesome to me.

Image of the Invisible = Worst Thrice song post-Identity
