Newsflash, there are melodic sections in tech thrash too. As far as general heaviness concerned, this isn't really that much heavier than an album like Visions of Misery by Sadus. Or even most Coroner or Believer for that matter.

i listen to a lot of mdm so to me it's very much reminiscent of a general mdm structure.
i myself don't consider this heavy, just the general atmosphere of Death and people in general do, and heavy death thrashiness + melodies across the songs but especially in the chorus + harsh vocals (though on here it's more like strained yelling, but so it is on early dt, in flames etc) is generally labelled mdm even if it has other elements alongside it, and that's indeed what it sounds like to me.
