Man why would you want there to be victims of abuse? Just because you don't like the band doesn't mean you should be wishing for there to be abuse victims, that's disgusting. makes me think you don't actually care about abuse victims, you just want a gotcha to have a "moral" reason to shit on the music you don't like tbh

no! more abuse from more bands!

it read/implied to me like you were waiting for them to have abuse allegations so you could have a more credible reason to dislike them. if I read it incorrectly, i apologize. but it just came off like that.
|
| |
not sure how you read the implication of botb's comment being that this band reeks of past-tense power harassment and molestation (as well as probable future) and that the best thing for everyone is for it to come to light asap
all conjecture (obviously), but never trust a shill act that panders to an underage fanbase with puddle-deep mental health bait and edgy sexualised postulation. especially if their entire image is built in a way that minimises any personal accountability via anonymity. you saps learnt nothing from the warped core gen

if there is abuse, then yeah it should come to light, but i feel like we shouldn't immediately be on the assumption of guilt without any actual cases being shown, because it comes off less like caring about abuse in the industry and more like a "HA! I KNEW HE WAS LIKE THIS! GOTCHA!" which does nothing for victims. next to no one knew Ian Watkins was what he was before it all came out (which is why it also doesn't help to demonize the rest of Lostprophets after they've long since moved on with Geoff Rickly in No Devotion). their aesthetic choice does not automatically equate to guilt.
like, if shit comes out, I'll gladly drop them. till then, i'm not gonna sit here and speculate, i find that to be wholly unhelpful. i'm not proclaiming i know how they are behind the scenes, there's always that chance. but there's a chance with ANY artist, i believe idol worship in general is foolhardy especially with humans. there could be allegations popping up with The Talking Heads or someone (just an example) someday, you never fully know. all we know is what is presented to us in the present.
you are right that we shouldn't blindly trust. but we also shouldn't blindly speculate before people say something about their behind the scenes whereabouts, no? especially as they already were technically identified.
|
| |
no idea how it comes off as unconcerned about abuse in the industry to point out that this band has a forest's worth of the red flags correlated with established abusive acts, but you go ahead and handwave about 'blind' speculation
fwiw i don't presume anything about what they have/haven't done — their pretentious bilge, clear corporate scope and cult-like interfacing with a largely underage fanbase reminds me above all of 30STM and Jared Leto (who afaik has a clean record for abuse, knock on wood) — but don't pepper me with arbitrary comparisons to other bands when there's nothing about the dynamics of their platform that deserves a shred of anticipatory goodwill (which is ultimately the main point here)

i always thought the anonymity gimmick was nothing more than a fun lil marketing thing to help them stand out similar to Ghost tbh it doesn't seem like it goes much deeper than that, and a lot of the discourse I see feels like just trying to find some sort of moralistic reason to justify not liking a band, when did it stop being okay to just... not vibe with a style or vocal, and not have anything deeper? (that last part is not directed at you, just a general statement)
fwiw i haven't listened to this album in months, but i can't imagine it's dropped that much on my rankings lol

Yeah this pretty much sums it up. Well said. Sorry if my dumb comment made in jest made you think I think sexual abuse is “funny” but that’s definitely not the vibe I was trying to put out, I assure you
