Probably because they enjoy Death at their most raw. I do prefer Leprosy as well though, because it combines that rawness with more sophistication in the songwriting

Leprosy does everything SBG does, but better. I've never thought Leprosy could benefit from being rawer, guess that's a possibility though, idk? Also some of SBG's (standout/easily decipherable) lyrics are more blatantly cringeworthy, which isn't a deal breaker necessarily, just helps tip the balance more in Leprosy's favour.

leprosy is a lot slower and drags on. but symbolic is full of poorly structured, boring riffs that go on for even longer with some basic mdm riffs thrown in to make it somewhat palatable. also schuldiner's weakest vocal performance.

whatever you want to call it it's bad at it. barely any sections are thrashy, and the presence of melodic sections on every track with general heaviness suggests mdm much more.
