Pale Communion is like this in that the songwriting went mediocre as opposed to horrendous, but everything else stayed the same.
|
| |
If you think everything else stayed the same you clearly didn't pay much attention when listening. And the songwriting is more conventional on PC for sure and there is more focus on it but as the songwriting isn't very good it suffers for it.

they're both pretty meh actually

By everything else I mean the quality of Mike's lyrics, vocals, songwriting, etc. Not the actual aesthetic. Obviously the two albums have different vibes.

"Obviously the two albums have different vibes."
The two albums have totally different approaches musically and in terms of song writing so I'd say it's more than just a case of different vibes.

''totally different approaches musically''
Maybe you stretch it a little. ''Totally different'', no they're not.
|
| |
To clarify, I meant in terms of the approach to the musicianship (not musical style), I think they are totally different in that regard.
