Zac idk if you actually play guitar but most of Worms Will Feed ain’t hard at all, Damages is relatively easy. And aside from the soloing Cutter isn’t too bad.

And ofc Wretched World but anyone can play that.

I don't think a riff has to be technically hard to play to be incredible. Much more about how strong or memorable the idea is imo.

Oh no of course not.

The first four Danzig records are some of my favorite albums ever, and I could play most of those songs in my sleep.

@Wildcardbitchesss Oh, tbh I have never tried a Converge song as I kinda just assumed that I can't play them yet. Will try it soon though.

yeah, I don't play myself but many of Converge's riffs don't SOUND (can be misleading) overly complicated. The drumming seems more technical to me.

Jane Doe actually has a surprising amount of easier songs compared to their later records.

Homewrecker and The Broken Vow aren’t too bad. Hell to Pay is ridiculously easy it’s just my tone is dogshit. Even the title track despite being almost 12 minutes long isn’t hard at all.

Now tracks like Thaw, Heaven in Her Arms, Fault and Fracture. Fuck all that lol

in terms of their later stuff: if you can do that tricky open string hammer on/pull off technique kurt uses on like every song (opening dark horse lead is the most obvious example) you can pretty much play the majority of it

I would say that most of Converge's guitarwork is probably varying degrees of intermediate with the occasional advanced or beginner cut. Great band for interesting riffs and textures though. Kurt is pretty one of kind in terms of style.

And there’s times where he and Ben just go apeshit like on Sparrow’s Fall or Arkhipov Calm.

Most of Ballou's riffs aren't too tricky to play in concept, but the speed at which he plays some of them is the real challenge. That Dark Horse riff is the perfect example. Easy enough riff played ungodly fast.
