I agree in premise with the "leave the art as the artist intended" philosophy, aka don't re-order their shit, but if I can turn a 3.5 into a 4.5 by dropping a track here or there and tailoring the tracklist to my preference, I'll never turn down the opportunity "in the name of art" or whatever. With that said, I never rate an album based on my re-tooling efforts - only on what the album actually is.

Also, I think I finally settled on a new avatar. The before/after of this and my profile picture is too nice. The Brand New burning oak logo followed by the mewithoutYou bare tree.

It's a design logo they used from their TDAG days, when they toured with mwY and Thrice.

Reordering done in the name of personal pleasure is super fun

I’ll cut out a song from an album every day if I have to, if it’s hindering my enjoyment and I still find value in the overall sound of an album, why not?

I guess it’s kind of a slap in the face of the artist who organized it that way, but if I feel like they did a bad job with with organizing or on a certain track, I just don’t really care ab their vision for the alb

I don't have to have a problem with the way an artist arranged it for me to think I can do it even better

I'm just cocky I guess

I've started using Sowing's version of Eat the Elephant, actually, it's so much better

I'm stingy with re-ordering tracklists as well but ever since I took Sowing's advice and combined Coldplay's Viva La Vida with Prospects March and removed some of the weaker tunes it's become such a great record.

I completely rearranged the self titled Taking Back Sunday album. That LP flows so badly but I think it's pretty decent with how I have it now along with chopping and changing in a couple of the bonus tracks for weaker ones etc. I also condensed that Green Day triple album into one half decent one too.
