Now that King Crimson and soon Tool are on streaming services, I can't think of anything else essential not on there besides Choirs of the Eye. Is Peter Gabriel still not on Spotify?

i don’t think toby has the rights to choirs
it’s a shame because it’s one of the greatest albums of all time

Yeah John Zorn's rules about absolutely owning everything on his label prevents Choirs from being released, it's obnoxious but at least it gave K Dot a wider audience at the time.

That was a good podcast. Keenan seems like a paranoid guy though.

its weird to say this about Tool but this whole thing reeks of fan servitude, i get the sense that the band have been sitting on their hands somewhat with the writing and procrastinating for years and now theyre like sick of fans bitching so theyre like fuck it lets just release this album so theyll shut the fuck up and we can move on with our lives. that's not a good reason to release an album. this seems especially true for maynard, i hope i'm wrong but I've got a bad feeling about this new album. i'm starting to think they just started writing it recently even though we've had years to wait, that doesnt mean they were writing all that time or that that material is even on the album

But seriously though, do you guys feel like the instrumentals of the two new songs were written without the vocals in mind? Like the vocals are no real part of the composition?

yeah I'm sure they're just doing to this to make the fans finally shut up, great theory.

That's how they write the songs as far as I'm concerned...maybe they are in mind...but vocal melodies and lyrics are added afterwards.

All the songs are written by Carey and Jones, Maynard comes in after all is said and done. Always been this way.

Carey is an alien, the perfect drummer.

I mean I hear this all the time, bands write the vocals last most of time, but they have them in mind and leave space for them most of the time
I've seen some criticism about the new songs about the vocals being like an afterthought and not really fitting in there
