This album has been a solid 3.5 from the beginning from me. My opinion has really stayed the same over the years. It’s a very good album, but on a lower tier as far as Deftones standards go. Seeing as how they’ve been one of my top 3 favorite bands for over 20 years, those standards are extremely high.

yep strong 3.5 album for sure

as soon as I started to see every Deftones album on its own, this band gained way more respect from me. Mostly because there is no album that sounds exactly the same as another. disconnecting this one from their awesome discography makes it at least a 4 for me

I've come to really love this one myself. Like Flug noted, it's super dissonant. It gives it a real hazy, dream like quality that you won't find anywhere else. If it was a little more consistent musically I'd bump to 4.5 easily.

the only big flaw on this album is pittura. there are a few average songs like xenon but many good ones. So I would call this quite consistent, but I see your point though

Gore has this unique and strange feeling of overall cohesion. Can’t really explain it, it’s just this feeling I get from the album.

I get you, Lark. It gives off a really strange but intoxicating vibe. Another reason it should be respected more.
@Eclipse I think the songwriting can be a little awkward at points. Like the way "Doomed User" starts. It's very jarring, although once it gets going it's fantastic. "Acid Hologram" and "Pittura" are the weaker ones for me. Maybe "Xenon" too. The highlights are near career bests though. "Rubicon" is one of their absolute best closers.

Man I love Acid Hologram personally, but Pittura and Xenon are definitely the weak links. Everything else is solid to varying degrees. Geometric is just alright too imo.

Interesting. "Geometric" is a top three on here for me, with "Gore" and "Rubicon" coming in second and first. "(L)MIRL" and "Prayers/Triangles" round out my top 5. And then there's "Phantom Bride" and "Hearts/Wires." This album really is great.

LMIRL, Phantom Bride and Hearts/Wires are my top 3, but also love Acid, Prayers, Rubicon, t/t and Doomed User.
Almost feels like I should bump to a 4 myself, now that I’m thinking about it...

Done.
I feel a weight off of my shoulders. I carried that 3.5 for way too long.

I need to jam this again and see if it goes up from a 3.5 or not, it's been a while
in fact I just need to do a solid discog run soon enough for them

haha nice to see that as soon as people give this album some time and thoughts, they realise how good it really is

@Lucman yeah I get what you're saying. Sometimes it's cringy and sometimes Chino kinda exaggerates voicewise - but then again, he is singing pretty dissonant on this one and I like that he's trying new approaches

Dig this quite a bit. Not quite up there with Koi, but it's quality.
