I mean, apart from the art, JB has one of the most brutal, throat ripping deliveries in all of heavy music and he's generally a great lyricist to boot. Converge absolutely wouldn't be Converge without him.

Yeah, who cares where the art comes from tbh, would you expect wholly original art hand-drawn by the band themselves?
And yeah, Bannon rips. I mean you can disagree, but then I’d very much question whether you get the music at all. It’s a key and inseparable ingredient. I think you could replace a lot of core vocalists with ‘someone else competent’ but Converge wouldn’t be Converge without Bannon.

idk i dislike his style more than anything. like this record is sooo vocal heavy. the intruments dont get a second to breathe. and jane doe is instrumentally monumental but i resent him because he ruins it for me with the awful vocal melodies and incoherence and lack of lyrics. yeah so badass not writing lyrics to your album and just doing vocals how you want. as if every vocalist ever wouldnt love to do that

@anode Jacob Bannon's vocals are an acquired taste, I felt pretty much the same as you on my initial listens to the band. 15 years later and they're my favorite band, so hey
plus, it's not like the vocalist only records vocals. Bannon is part of bringing riff ideas and working on the music too.
