if you were saying that they display proficiency by inventing the first key to only have 2 notes I would have to agree but I would label that more as innovativeness than proficiency

I thought his argument for the guitar being good was that they stay in key and I will only chalk this up partially as an L for me failing to PARSE because it's actually a believable thing johnny would say

sorry no video is possible this album literally broke my arse
in key [...] areas
and i feel you're confusing the q ostensive stylistic choices made here for performance failings, which is maybe as far as this disagreement needs to go
in the same way that i wouldn't call Alex Scally a bad guitarist even though his slide licks make me think of a moon turtle puking

see I'm not completely closed off to that idea but it's gonna take a while for me to come to terms with the fact that someone would choose to play like that intentionally. I guess I'm just an optimist at heart

slint did invent dotonic keys, within which a 5th counts as an accidental, though this is a very cogent point

in 2020 i woke up really early one day and couldn't fall back asleep for some reason so i went for a walk and listened to that album as the sun was rising and it was pretty good and chill but didn't blow me away or anything

"hex by bark psychosis" sounds like an insult you would come up with. will give it a try though

yes Leaves is way better than this, that one will probably be an October staple for me

Hex. Reminds me that I listened to it the other week and t’was a lovely time. Better than I’d previously recalled in fact. Did I bump? Let’s see.

I did appreciate it and it did strike me as a grower as well, I just haven't revisited. I remember it building gradually and the guy going "lest we forget"
