I listened to this album for the first time years ago now having not ever given music like this a listen before and not knowing what I was about to get myself into because I just downloaded it and listened without checking the internet first (for all I knew this album could be folk-rock).
After the first listen when the piano finishes off White Walls I thought "t'was pretty cool, I guess..."
After listening to it a second time I decided that I'd actually enjoyed what I had heard, and upon more and more listens I decided this was one of the most important albums I have ever heard and still remains a favourite today.

i can understand a 5 but theres no reason why anyone can think this is a 1. at the very least theres a few riffs or passages that can appeal to anyone, and Viridian has like one of the bass solos ever
