none of this selection would come close for me, although the melodeathy pair are a) in a different realm completely and b) underwhelming to me. VA are an interesting leftfield choice, I do like that album but wouldn't have considered it. Art Brain are good at what they do, but Ulcerate definitely beat them at that game and come the closest to matching this (from the selection)

Imperative Imperceptible Impulse and The Sanguinary Impetus are both up there (and alongside Everything Is Fire), perhaps surpassing other Ulcerate released since this, although Stare does run them close

tl;dr - yeah, nothing since beats this since, Ix3 is probably closest. Then Sanguin. Then Stare.

EiF wasn't in contention, Stare was. So it may depend on which Ulcerate we're talking about. Ulcerate being better would be a hard no, especially as their best album is eliminated, essentially.

It's irrelevant as I'd take this over them all, so it probably didn't need mentioning (but I do seem to enjoy pointless elaboration!)
