It kinda parallels Dillinger’s Ire Works for me. It’s the most dynamic they’ve ever been and has the most interesting swings from absolutely crushing to hauntingly beautiful.

This is a Converge album I ignored for years. What a mistake... I can't put it away since the first time I listened to the riff of Dark Horse. The deep cut(ter) are phenomal. The may be my favorite Converge album (too soon to say) but in my book it's anything but a 5.

Cruel Bloom to Wretched World is currently my favorite stretch of slow 'verge. And Dark Horse to Axe to Fall my favorite opening combo. What an album

The breakdown in Dark Horse is just timeless dude. Caught them on the tour for this album and they played like 7 songs off of it including the first 3 back to back to back and what a rush

I do sometimes think this gives Jane Doe some stiff competition. This is definitely my 2nd fave Converge now, and that wasn’t always the case.

goated band. I think I rate converge more harshly than other bands. Everything I have rated at a 4 or a 4.5 from them would be any other bands best record. The *only problem* I have with this record is that a lot of the songs blend together in my head when I listen to it. I love it all the way through but I don’t think I could name every song start to finish.



Having said all that, and this isn’t a new take at all, Cruel Bloom and Wretched World are such a phenomenal way to finish this record. And it’s probably my favorite artwork behind Jane.
