hm sorry wolfe I just would like to talk about this album that I enjoy but I do have to look at the thread to see what is being said unfortunately 80% of the time looking at the thread it's like "this isn't bm" "it's influenced by bm" "it's more screamo/shoegaze" "yes but there's bm in there" MO: "Album Rating: 1.0 shit" and looking at that for a year is kind of annoying I'm sure you would agree

"Things aren't quite as easy as that when it comes to anything that includes the issue of image, though. I
mean to some degree yeah obviously, duh."
i don't find it to be that difficult. if you disapprove of a band because of their image or their sense of
fashion you are and always will be a literal fuccboi. same goes for the people who pretend. i would take
those opinions with a grain of salt

Addendum: I'd also like to note that I can't possibly comprehend how Wizard likes this album.
Saw them live and the album hit me like a ton of bricks afterward. Live performances can certainly influence the way you feel about records.

had the same experience when WITTR released Celestial Lineage, wasn't hugely impressed when it came out and then saw them on the european leg of their tour and ended up loving it.

I can't help but dig this. The melodies in the main tracks absolutely soar.

Yeah, no shit. I'm just saying these phenomena DO exist. Not that I approve of it.
"Saw them live and the album hit me like a ton of bricks afterward. Live performances can certainly influence the way you feel about records."
I don't entirely get that, I mean in associative fashion yeah maybe or if the songs they play live from that album make for a good show. But I don't see how that enhances the quality of the album as it was recorded and released. (i.e. it doesn't factually change anything about the album itself)
"Because he's a wizard and this album is magic
duh"
I do like that explanation better!
@tempest: Maybe, I mean you could just filter out everything irrelevant. Most of the time when I'm in some kind of forum I read selectively.

He didn't like it at all at first iirc as expected, then saw it live and found a whole new appreciation for it which happens I guess

not a v hard concept to grasp actually. i mean nothing about an album is "factual" other than the fact that
it exists. personal experiences (live shows, general life experiences, etc.) can greatly alter someone's
opinion on an album. all bout that personal association u feel me cuh?
|
| |
It's not about the concept it's about the logic.
Again, the live experience does not alter the album as it is. For example: I think Alestorm puts on a decent live show and if I was on a festival with my friends I'd go see them - doesn't mean I'd spend any time listening to their albums in my free time. Hell, I'd possibly even see Deafheaven if they were playing a festival I was at - probably wouldn't change my mind that I think most of this album is a snoozefest.
