it’s not like those things can’t be explored in a compelling way but the surface level exploration of them paired with one of Matt’s least memorable pre-SWB melodies doesn’t make for a highlight. also you probably don’t even know what an ian knot is

I remember this was the first new release I was really hyped for and awaiting, at that time I was mostly exploring already-established discographies. 10 years, wow!

Natty hot-take(?) of the day, this probably isn’t better than HV or Boxer, but cut the last three tracks and it would be. Suffers for being 55 minutes and the choice cuts are all earlier on in the track-listing (Sea of Love is the only other song I’d consider removing).

Hard to Find > Sea of Love if we’re being exact about things, just went with the easy option.

On one hand, the Altoid brain take is implying that if one must cut three tracks, the best choice would somehow be the final three. Humiliation? Pink fucking Rabbits? What are you on about mate. I don’t think this album needs ANY trimming, but if one were to force me, there’s no way I Need My Girl isn’t one of those three tracks. (Maybe then…Fireproof? Then…who knows.)
On the other hand, Hard to Find > Sea of Love is a true connoisseurs take, stuff upon which only the most esteemed and well-learned Natty fans concur.

Pink Rabbits gets on me wick sometimes, like he’s desperate to squeeze in some extra words where they don’t really fit… also, wtf are Pink Rabbits anyway? Irritating metaphor

tfw Demon just wants the white girl and not the crowd of white girls in the park
Hard to Find is one of the least memorable good songs in the National discog and there is zero chance that whatever lengths of masochistic reel fandom are required to overplay it enough times to recall anything about it are worth it
pink rabbits are apparently a wine mum with sweet tooth cocktail

HV I find less an ‘every day listen’ than this.
Generally most of the time I’d start HV at ‘Bloodbuzz’
