"fair enough, but i dont get any sense of tension or urgency in the first half of AMSP and then in the second half it feels more like the energy just dies instead of releasing"

Burn The Witch is tension incarnate. Daydreaming is pretty but has chopped vocals throughout, and those fleeting strings at the end. Thom works a lot of tension into that verse in the middle of Decks Dark. He sounds barely suspended above the rest of the song. Ful Stop is tense as fuck. And that's only the tension within songs, never mind between songs. Going from hot to cold like it does suggests a volatility that doesn't let up / plateau until The Numbers.

Listen harder dumby ;]

yeah you just said it yourself, daydreaming has no tension and interrupts that build up. and burn the witch isn't tense its just awkward. decks dark isnt tense either its haunting and sturdy. desert island disk completely kills the tension again just liked daydreaming did. and then ful stop builds it again before an admittedly quite releasing transition to glass eyes which is one of the most cohesive parts of the album. but then it goes back to tense again for identikit and then just randomly completely snuffs out for the entire rest of the album.
