@Aiwaz - I see. Even though I wouldn't have put them amongst my favourites Neurosis are definitely top 15 on mine.
@Ford - yes it does although it could be interpreted differently unless it was made specifically clear (maybe I'm just an idiot). What about Souls & EOTS? I've not heard them myself but they'd be on my radar for a 'chronological' jam.

@dbizzles - Now I'm going to ask a REALLY stupid question, why pay for Spotify, are the adverts just too annoying? I'm not sure of the other benefits. My issue is I don't have time to sit down in front of a desktop & use it much so I'm hoping you can make it 'portable' somehow.

Enemy of the Sun is really turning me to Neurosis. That last tracks is just 15 minutes of tribal drumming and it was actually still somehow interesting.

Not stupid. I didn't know shit about Spotify before I got it. I have it on my phone, which I use for all of my music. IIRC, You can't listen to entire albums without premium. It's like Pandora (though better) where you have to shuffle play an artist and then it starts playing songs by similar artists.
If you have premium you can 'download' albums in high quality so you can play them without streaming and using your data- unfortunately you don't just get a copy of the album, just the ability to access it offline.
I've never used it on my PC, so I'm not sure if there's a big difference.

Ah right. On PC you can listen to full albums without premium, they just interrupt your listening with irritating adverts. Apart from spoiling the vibe it's acceptable considering that you're not paying for anything & I just use it to get an idea if I'll like something or not. Maybe you can't do that on the mobile version without premium then? I don't know.

can't stream full albums in order without premium on your phone. you can with pc and tablet though.
but it's like $10 a month and it's totally worth it.

I'm pretty sure you can't, but I might be wrong. I have a family pass and gave the gift of premium to my friends/ family lol.

I wouldn't be able to do that anyway, got a very old iPhone which doesn't accept the vast majority of apps. I've got an iPod touch for my music but never used it for the internet before as it's just for my iTunes & that's fairly old as well now.
I'm technologically challenged for the most part, the world moves forward & I've neglected to keep up.

the only problem is that several bands that I dig aren't on there. no acid bath or tool unfortunately. also no qotsa debut anymore.

I do get extra frustrated when they don't have a band or album on there that I want to hear. I've become spoiled.

for me it will never replace physical copies of music but it's still awesome to have

I've drifted further and further away from physical copies. I buy vinyl if it's an album I really love, but otherwise I just go digital. Spotify is mostly great for exploring bands that are new to you, imo. Spotify + recs from the fine users on Sputnik = gold mine.

'physical copies of music'
definitely agree, amusingly the year is 2017 & I've still been going around picking up cheap CDs on Amazon without having heard so much as a note of whatever it is I'm buying. I try & keep it sensible but if there's a supposed classic in a genre I'm at the very least ok with it's very hard to resist when they're often going for peanuts.

Do it. Interested to see what albums are the favorite of a noob (to Neurosis) like my self.
