Heritage is well rounded and has an amazing cohesiveness to it. One of the best I’ve ever heard!

Heritage has a very special charm to it. It's a marmite kind of album

One thing I will say is that axe is an awesome drummer and his playing on heritage is no exception. And haxprocess is one of their best songs

Axe is one of the main reasons for Heritage's success. His drumming there is phenomenal.
And Häxprocess is top tier Opeth [2]

The capacity of human intelligence seems to limit the capabilities to expand upon any possible creative aptitudes. Indeed, if one cannot even notice the facets that the ingenuities around him are comprised of, how can he be expected to fashion a beast of his own?

Fucking A, that's what I'm always saying. And then they hand you that cd with selfmade music.

Reviving a topic from a few pages ago but I really don't think SOAD's view that people won't listen to long albums these days is true. Whatever you think of Tool, Fear Inoculum topping the Billboard 200 showed that wasn't the case, and there would be a big audience for a SOAD comeback if that ever happened (which it almost certainly won't). This is true outside rock as well; To Pimp A Butterfly was extremely long and jazz-influenced for a rap album and topped the Billboard 200. It's not like only Taylor Swift sells albums these days.
The problem with double albums isn't that 75-minute records don't sell, it's that often they should have been single albums with the weaker songs cut. That RHCP double album from the 2000s comes to mind.
Don't think there are any weak songs on this though. Also prefer Damnation to Heritage thanks to its melancholic atmosphere, though Haxprocess is good.

I was definitely one of the Opeth fans who turned away from Opeth following the initial release of Heritage. I actually decided to give it a chance again recently and was really pleasantly surprised. It has a really unique atmosphere and was a lot more coherent than I expected. It’s undoubtedly of a very high quality.

This album is good but I'm not so sure mikael really noticed what the facets that the ingenuities around him were comprised of

Same here. I initially disliked it, was very disappointed, but a few years back it clicked like crazy and now it's one of my faves. Unique album, love it so much.

The drumming especially is phenomenal. Plus it's so vibrant and the energy and joy of playing those tracks just oozes from every note. They feel genuinely into it.

dude, yes, every time I listen to MAYH through this it makes me miss Martin Lopez so much. His drumming always grooved so hard.

Haha, I was complementing Axe on Heritage, but Lopez was phenomenal too of course. What he's doing on GR... Man! Or the Deliverance t/t. Or MAYH. Or here.
