Late to this one. Clearly not as good as her previous record, but some decent tunes here and there. Can see myself returning to a few tracks if not the whole album

Okay, so I just found out Jordan Fish produced a pretty well known Dutch pop artist last year? What in the fuck... Checking now: S10 - Mijn Haren Ruiken Naar Vuur

Don't really understand why this is received so much worse than Negative Spaces. It's largely the same, but at the same time I do see Jordan Fish actually change it up. It's not a Joey Sturgis situation, where it's literally the same albums again and again lol. Lots of Negative Spaces (can't abbreviate that one, bit unfortunate) sounded like BMTH b-sides, this is some of that, sure, but also more its own thing.

This is not its own thing at all lol.

This just feels like B-sides of those BMTH b-sides. Negative Spaces felt fun to me, this feels forced.

Time will Tell is a good tune, that's the one I can see myself coming back to off here

@hawks I meant its own thing in the Jordan Fish of it all. That's always gonna be genericore, but that's to be expected. Negative Spaces felt a lot like BMTH leftovers throughout, while this, especially in the 2nd half, doesn't at all. That's also where all the better songs are imo. The stretch of the last 5 songs would be a 5/5 EP
I will say though, the mix is atrocious. Vocals are way too loud at pretty much all times. Noticeable on speakers, but holy shit it's annoying on headphones.

Yeah I agree this does just feel like leftovers from Negative Spaces… I’m fine with it. It’s a fun album, but she cannot try to do this a third time. Her next record should go in a different direction imo but honestly this kind of alt metalcore pays the bills atm so I won’t be surprised if she still has Fish on board but I will be disappointed

I wouldn't mind her sticking to metalcore but would be nice to then get a different kind of sound, get a different producer in (not WZRD BLD, Zakk Cervini or Braunstein) and maybe that will do the trick. Her doing a collab with more of an electric producer while keeping the metal elements would be cool, something like Perturbator or what have you

I mean honestly if she gave us EAT but 35-45 mins long I could literally die happy. Top 5 EP of all time for me tbh
So yeah I agree with being fine with her sticking to metalcore, I just don’t want it to sound this sanitized.

For me, that’s exactly what’s wrong with it. It sounds like reheated leftovers from the NS sessions, like mediocre b-sides. And it just stays in the same “space”, and ends up feeling relatively pointless.

I think that's the exact reason its being received worse tbh.

It is a great one. The gold standard EPs for me are NIN’s Broken, AiC Jar of Flies, Knocked Loose ATITFOL and Tool Opiate.
AiC Sap, Blink 182 Dogs Eating Dogs and Mastodon Cold Dark Place are up there too. EAT is prob top 15 for me. I agree it’s fucking great for sure.

@Hawks yeah I read Johnfire’s first comment, then went directly to post my comment, then read the comments in between.
So it seems we mostly agree lol
