They really should have taken a break from touring. Chino sounds alright but he really struggled on Entombed. No chance his voice holds up this touring cycle. He sounded pretty good for Madonna though. Like the backing vocals.

I mean, they've never been about being "popular." Look at the time of length between album cycles and doing music on their terms. A break would have really done alot of help overall. But would you agree his voice isn't gonna hold up?

Funny i feel the opposite sentiment to that on the previous page or so. If any other band dropped this kind of album people would praising it as a modern masterpiece. Though, because we’re so used to high quality output from this band many reactions are that it’s fairly boilerplate or even substandard. I haven’t seen many people call this a classic or even one of the better albums ever made. I’ve see people hail it as one of the best Deftones albums which is a different thing. I just find those who are either not fans of this release, or of Deftones in general to get weirdly upset by people’s use of superlatives particularly when it comes to this band. Go smoke it up with chino and dddeftonesddd or something

I like the Deftones song where he goes "sayyyyyyy theeeeeee waaayyyyyy yuuuuhhhh" for 4 minutes.

Mix just seems really muddy. The songwriting is really jarring too. Like there is no structure but feels bland at the same time. Basic riffs all around

Album is WAY better than Ohms after first listen. infinite source, I think and souvenir are very good, locked club sucks, really happy dreamy tones is back.

Nah, MOTM fits neatly like a glove in here. The vibe is very consistent throughout. cXz is like its twin track in particular, only not quite as good.

Deftones albums can be total growers. I’ll admit I’m a Neanderthal and albums take sometimes years to click for me. I just jammed this super stoked for new tones and was underwhelmed
