It's a shame they made the screams so loud, makes it sound a bit corny in my opinion. Jumping in again today, for the second listen.

Yeah on one hand the record feels a little safe in sticking to its themes so hard, on the other hand it's so refreshing to see Opeth writing in a way that feels like they know where they're fuckin going with it again. And there's just nothing that really grabs me by the D and yanks it super hard like a BUPATABOW WEPT FOR SOLACE AND SUBMIT TO FAITH moement, etc, of which there are a slew of moments on Ghost Reveries and prior. Still the most fun I've had listening to an Opeth record all the way through and the most repeat listen one has gotten since then.

Harsh vox are cool too.

this flows so well as an album, kind of find it hard to pick out individual songs. a strength and detriment. really love 4 especially the solo and the closer is a classic opeth ballad. need to spend way more time with this though.
