Gonna be an top ten album of the year for me. And I don't even like death metal.

Fantano really fell victim to poptimism. His lists are so boring these days, he would never give a band like Altar of Plagues #3 of the year now.

"Gonna be an top ten album of the year for me. And I don't even like death metal."
Would be a little more impressive if this wasn't nearly as psychedelic/progressive/spacey

Like this definitely has more crossover appeal than say like undeath or brodequin

late to this but this is easily my favorite from them! Promising first spin.

something something not really comparable
also found it odd how that abbreviation was dumped here, especially when the two albums aren't even close to the same genre... it definitely took me a moment to wonder what the hell was going on (and I like that album)

Don't tell sputnikmusic.com that they're not really comparable!

Appreciate what they're doing / trying to do but bro I am here for death metal.

The context of that comment was mainly in regards to that dude saying this is in his top ten of the year and he "doesn't even like dm"

But I feel ya tec, I should stop wanting starspawn 2.0

Well then good thing my favorite pastime is responding to and enriching comments entirely out of context

I like what BI did here more than what TM did with their latest. There are two overwhelming trends happening in death metal right now from what I can see:
1. "disso"-everything, hey man, I heard you like dissonance but Have you heard this new album, it's a cross between disso-bm and disso-dm, it's kinda like double-disso-bsdm, the riffs are really ANGULAR and WINDING and OTHER GEOMETRICALLY NONCONFORMIST ADJECTIVES etc..
2. "We are big fans of Klaus Schulze and can't wait to tell you about it."
And honestly as oversaturated as the landscape is with the former, that's still the one I prefer. I generally and genuinely welcome innovation, growth, change, unorthodoxy, whatever, but I guess my comforts when it comes to metal are to at least remain somewhat within that sphere. (In other words, I almost prefer something like TIMEWAVE ZERO to this, just a straight up electronic/ambient/space album, versus hyperextending that stuff into what would otherwise be a relentless death metal record.)
I'm rambling now.

What are the other Klaus Schulze worshipping death metal bands I wanna hear them

2. isn't really a thing but agreed with your general point
just replace "Schulze" with being PROGRESSIVE by squeezing in all one's influences in a menagerie of disparate segments, lacking in cohesive identity
