I can’t stop listening to it. It’s the perfect length. I can loop it twice and some change during my workouts and it has infinite replay value. I’ve been looping it during my workouts this week and feel the demon come out of me. It’s great. Easily my album of the year and I don’t think it’ll even be close.

This is underwhelming off the back of A Tear in the Fabric of Life. That EP is just on another level, the flow of the EP is mesmerising and each song has it's unique sound. One of the riffs of this century in Permanent.
This album is good, it's just lacking that melody and creativity I found on the EP. The songs are a little more samey and this drags on a bit. I was actually surprised to see its only 27 minutes (6 minutes longer than the EP). The heavy riffs and chugging get old quickly for me if they aren't accompanied by some quality background sounds or melodies and that is distinctly lacking here compared to the EP.
Overall a good album, it's hard to rate after the band put out one of the best metalcore EPs of all time.

A Tear is on another level for sure, this is mostly just fun caveman lift weights and smash face type stuff

ATITFOL is still tops for me but I gotta say, this thing is creeping up on it with repeated listens.

Eh, I've jammed this like 20 times already
It's nowhere near Tear in the Fabric of Life for me

overall i've settled on the last two tracks being two of the best they've ever done... and the poppy song also slaps hard... but besides that this is pretty comfortably my least fave thing they've put out
tear is obviously in a league of its own... but idk maybe its nostalgia but i still think the other two albums have better songs for the most part

It's not nostalgia, you are correct
I know this because I often fall victim to recency bias and that isn't happening here

i think the difference here vs the other albums is those albums are just straight up 11 bangers...
where as this album they are very much trying to construct a "full album experience" with all these half songs and transitional moments. i think its cool idea, never seen anyone who plays this brand of hardcore attempt that etc.... but i don't think it lands. i find myself wishing like half these tracks were like a minute longer. like they're trying to push an envelope that doesn't need to be pushed

guess you can say they did the same thing with tear and upon loss but with those i def don't think they ever sacrificed the quality of the songs to achieve that

Only one that pops to mind is Admiral Angry but they’re more in a sludgy noise direction tbf and no longer make music

The plebs all seem to like this shit. Gotta start somewhere
For the veterans, I can only imagine nostalgia has overtaken them… or they’ve been rendered braindead by all the mindless beatdown shite they consume on the regular
