This sounds like the kind of music I looked back on and cringed at post-high school. The vocals on this blow ass and are absolutely as generic as anything I’ve heard in the genre. worse than that a lot of the latter half is just ear gratingly bad. Genuinely don’t know how people listen to this shit and think it’s a 4.5+

I prefer a little bit more grit in my core, this is too shiny, too sterile or 'clean' and the vox are very much not good and a big part of that gripe. The breakdowns are uninteresting also. So 'generic' definitely fits many of the aspects here actually.

Like I alluded to before, they do threaten to write a decent hook once in a while, so it's not a complete waste of time, but it definitely isn't good.

Maybe I'll just lower my rating for Chambered because I was hoping this would win this nonsense 'battle' and separating your 2s from your 1.5s is obviously essential

The reason for mentioning Chambered (other than the fact they're both trending core records) is that the two go for completely different things, and yet, both fail miserably. Chambered has a preferable core (hehe?) sound in theory, but their song-writing is so absurdly nonsensically grating that it's just a chore to sit through.

Given the choice, I'd rather take a whirlwind over this, even if that whirlwind may prove to be unwieldy. I don't find the songwriting nearly that offensive but maybe too many hours on Frontierer have melted my poor brain.



You're right about this having a degree of sterility to it, which is likely what's gonna push my rating down a bit. Needs more OOMPH and dirt kicked on it.

Well in fairness, this style of -core isn't normally my WHEELhouse, so take it however you'd like to take it. It's getting a lot of attention so I'd say it doesn't hurt to try.

It's a shame really. The singles led me to believe this would be a cleaner version of the band but also that the album was going to be a step up from the previous, and I still love their previous album. Then the rest of the album consists of their worst material to date and more of a regression into (what I now find to be) an attempt at more mainstream core accessibility

I actually dug Frontierer's latest, a huge part of that was the aesthetic ngl, but it did also groove pretty hard at times. But yeah, it's a bit of a mindfuck, haha
