It doesn't seem that out of left field to me to suggest that I primarily view music through a cathartic / emotive lens. Usually my super high ratings are reserved to stuff that had a profound emotional impact on me.

Oh wait this is turning into more johnny trolling XD

"I primarily view music through a cathartic / emotive lens."

that is a reasonable statement

you trying to project it into an intelligible take about songwriting or historical vocal styles or conceptions of 'emotive' not overwhelmingly defined by backfiring angst is not

the distinction is not complex

truth be told i feel the barrier to entry when it comes to properly appreciating older material is trying to reconcile that for some reason vocalists weren't really using the timbre I find most emotional catharsis out of back then. and that the production, guitar tones, etc. just sound so lacking in impact.

probably not. i thought people would've understood that from the get go instead of immediately trying to be combative assholes and triggering defense mechanisms.
