this band is always posturing as political, but so vague when it comes to politics, it feels so weird

At this point I think they're long past actually caring.

Those two new singles are straight up bad, with Unravelling being SLIGHTLY less bad.
I really miss Muse of the OoS-Absolution-Black Holes days. Such a phenomenal run. Though, in hindsight, it makes a little sense. Each subsequent album was slightly “worse” than the previous, but still all great albums nonetheless.

Man they kinda cooked with the new single

I thought Be With You was good too, but yeah, Cryogen is their best in ages. Probably since The Handler or Reapers from back on 2015's Drones. Still cautious though, Muse have found more ways to fuck up than succeed in the last decade+. Half the songs on the album could still end up being dance tracks.

'Cryogen' is decent for sure, I wasn't keen on 'Be With You' but with 'Unravelling' and 'Cryogen' having a meatier sound this might actually be a half decent album.
Although, that being said... "Half the songs on the album could still end up being dance tracks." [2]

Yea, I am also reluctantly optimistic about the singles. I look forward to it with anticipointment

I've liked all three so far, so hopefully we'll get a good album

Cryogen sounds like something off of Drones, which I consider to be their best album since Black Holes up to the present. Surprisingly underrated it seems.
Simulation Theory had a few high points too, not a bad album.
So yeah, it’s decent. But like the new MM track, it SOUNDS like better older school shit, but it’s lacking a certain something, like an authenticity/X factor. Seems mildly pandering to/desperate for old fans to return to the fold. or something like that lol.
I remember not really liking the first single they released, but I’ll hear it again when the album comes out. I like albums to be fresh when they come out.
Randomly, who’s looking forward to that Ecca Vandal LP (finally)??? Fucking hyped, but do wish half the album hadn’t already been released as singles.

“ Yea, I am also reluctantly optimistic about the singles. I look forward to it with anticipointment”
Looollll never heard that word, but I love it. I always say “restrained optimism” or “baited breath”, but anticipointment is fucking perfect.

hell I might even say best since MK ultra
dear god is it possible to be hyped for muse in the year of our lord 2026??

I know if hyped is possible. But there’s certainly a modicum of hope.

I read somewhere that Matt got divorced, so maybe that'll serve as some sort of inspiration to make a great record (?)

The funny thing is that their earliest and best stuff was born of paranoia, politics, and conspiracy. Now that we're all living it more than ever, Muse is at their least inspired. Who knows, maybe this new one will reverse the trend.

Yeah he did get divorced, tis true. Read that just a few days ago myself.

@sowing yeah I just blame aging and the ensuing, inevitable adulting/family and the constant reality checks and constraints that come with it.
Aging fucking blows man, it is the most depressing thing ever. Death is even less depressing, at least that has finality. Not slow torture.
Good morning everyone, from So Cal here lol! Where it’s always sunny.
