That's my one gripe with Q - they tend to totally ignore American hard rock. Evanescence didn't get reviewed until Bring Me To Life had been #1 for about 3 weeks, then dropped out of the Top 10.
That's funny, that's one of the things I like about them.

You Brits are lucky; some of us CAN'T ignore American hard rock bands, no matter how hard we try! *shakes fist at Switchfoot and Hoobastank*
|
| |
Switchfoot is not hard rock. But they are crap.
Hoobastank... Hoobastank has a few good songs, unfortunately only The Reason gets played, and that is the worst song... ever.
Alter Bridge on the other hand, (I'm trying to keep this somewhat AB related), needs to come out with their best songs, cuz their worst will do nothing other than push everyone away (i.e. open your eyes)
I can certainly see why. Though it's annoying when I see a band, want to know more, and it takes 4 or 5 months for Q to even mention them. It feels like they have an attitude of 'Do we HAVE to review this?', which is a little irritating. Give them bad reviews, by all means, but don't ignore them altogether. Things like that make me stand in a newsagent reading Kerrang like some 13-year-old goth kid.
I suppose I go by "ignorance is bliss", then. I'd rather read about stuff outside the mainstream, or about older music (articles on which Q do rather well). If I wanted all the regular stuff, I would indeed read Kerrang or NME, both of which are horrendously bad.
They're almost infinitely more likely to be reviewed online, so I can just read about them there.

I despise most music publications. As is my wont, I usually go for the guitar mags. Unfortunately, though, Guitar World is another tool in the hype machine rather than a well-rounded instructional mag. Guitar One is the best American mag, I think, but to be honest, my favorite guitar publication is probably a UK publication, "Guitar Techniques." That magazine is the craziest and the coolest. It has these awesome songs with note-perfect backing tracks. It's an unbelievable magazine...unfortunately delivery to America is scattered at best. I wonder if I can subscribe from here, and how much that would cost, because it's a seriously amazing publication.

Rolling stone is quite possibly the worst publication of music reviews in the history of music. I doubt they have even listened to the album and just end listening to the single and some random song. For example, they gave Alter bridge 2 stars.....wtf, less than creed's weathered! Now i am a creed fan but ill even admit that One day remains is a far superior album that weathered. PLus Rolling stone doesn't even review a lot of the bands i like, it seems they are either understaffed or don't give a crap about those bands.
Moral of the story: Rolling Stone Blows.
PLus they give other bands really bad reviews for no reason, and very little detail. That is why i come to Mx tabs for reviews!

Rolling Stone is a celebrity and pop mag now. They haven't been a real rock magazine in a long time.
And wtf, giving Alter Bridge just two stars. What disgruntled, lame idiots.

Guitar techniques is indeed awesome, most music magazines do indeed suck, giving AB two stars is indeed retarded, and how does one get stars above their avatar? By getting a thousand posts?

I think it's a thousand posts, having been registered for 90+ days, and having a thousand rep points.
|
| |
Yeah, except you SHOULD get four. I only got three.
/pouts.
Until I get it explained to me, I'll be annoyed about it.
|
| |
How do you get rep points?
|
| |

Ostensibly, for being a good poster. See, under people's avatars, there's a little box with a tick and a X in it? If someone makes a particularly good or bad post, you can click on that box and leave them positive or negative reputation, respectively.
You start off with 10 points, and the number of points you have dictates how many points you give out (so those with higher rep can give out more at once). To check you current rep, and any comments you've received, go to your User CP.

^Hey, thats cool... Seems a lot like a popularity contest though...

It's not supposed to be (hence "ostensibly"), but yes, that seems to be how it turns out, especially in the Pit.

I think they are just as bad as creed but maybe a bit better singer is kinda weird

Yeah, but just look at your user title.

Kinda weird? If by weird you mean a down to earth rock and roll singer who DOESN'T have an ego the size of New York, then yeah, he's weird.

Instead of just telling us they suck and the leader is weird...Why don't you explain yourself so we can talk about it? Ever heard of contributing to the thread?

Can i just tell you guys that one of the best songs off the album is to be released soon, the video for Broken Wings is being shot right now. There is to be an actor from CSI in it and it is to have a Twilight Zone theme.
Lets get ready, cause this song is gonna kick *** and make AB heard all over the world!!
|
| |
Oh, yuck. They are releasing Broken Wings as a single?
Aright, from now on I must hide the fact that I am an Alter Bridge fan, until they release a FREAKING NON-CREEDISH SONG that actually has a video... Speaking of which, WHY ON EARTH DID THEY NOT MAKE A VIDEO FOR FIND THE REAL?!?!?!
They have the absolute worst marketing strategy of any band ever.
