It would be awesome (beach time etc) if I wasn't working...still at home...so its cool...The house remains fresh, but if it keeps like this ibn the next few days it will become pretty unbearable ahah

Cute!

I still need to really fall in love with those guys. Don't know what's holding me back. Bought From Mars To Sirius about 10 years ago or something, but it never really clicked with me. Should probably revisit!

That has a weird sound. One of my faves, but very long as well...

You don't need to fall in love with them, but Low Lands is indeed cute.

Do you all know that you are completely wrong? There is just no possible world where the 2nd half would be better than the 1st half. "Im Winterwald" is a masterpiece, "Alt" and "Stimmen im Wald" slay so much and are actually on par with the first song. Even "Uber den Baumen" is not far behind in quality.

I agree that the second half is crowned by "Le reve lucide" but from that point it goes downhill - even if just a little bit. "Kalteschauer" is the weakest point of the album imo and it always breakes my concentration. It's just a pure aggression and noise with not much variety. "Weiter, immer weiter" is better in that regard but also too straightforward for its length. The same could be said about the closer "So halt es wider" - which is the best of the last three long songs but it also suffers from the length.

So, I hope that now we can all agree that I'm right and you were not :D

I don't have a clear preference (...yet?). This is very cohesive, very consistent in its quality.

"Kalteschauer is the weakest point of the album" gimme some of that hard shit you smokin.

Anyway, none of these tracks have much variety individually, the variety is provided over the course of the album. Kalteschauer being so aggressive is exactly what helps it stand out. And it actually does change up a decent amount towards the end, with the heavy keyboard/atmospherics.

''Anyway, none of these tracks have much variety individually, the variety is provided over the course of the album.''

This is exactly what I like and admire so much about this record. It truly is an 'album' album. Very album-y. It works incredibly well as a whole. I probably wouldn't have liked Flug as much on its own as I like it in context of the whole thing.

"Very album-y" haha yeah exactly. I mean, plenty of the tracks kick even more ass on their own too AFTER you've heard them in context. I liked Im Winterwald plenty the first time I heard it, but loved it after I was able to look at it as a 9-minute intro track, which is appropriate for a 2 hour album.

And agreed about Flug, if that had been the first track I'd heard off this, out of context I'd have been like "meh, it's cool I guess." But slotted where it is, and with the vibe it sends out to close the first half of the album, it's exquisite.

''But slotted where it is, and vibe it sends out to close the first half of the album makes it exquisite.'' Exactly how I feel.

Agree with the ''plenty of the tracks kick ass on their own too AFTER you've heard them in context'' too by the way.

Kalteschauer is actually a good example, I could see where someone would feel like it's a bit monotonous after 12 minutes out of context, but the album hasn't put the riffs that much in your face since Uber dem Baumen, and they haven't been that pissed off up to that point so for me I was just so ready for a good face-melt by then and it's timing is perfect.

Edit: This is greater than the sum of it's parts. That's the phrase I was trying to think of.

Today, Über den Bäumen hit me as the high point of this album. Jeesh. That riff is truly something.
