"Also I know I keep just saying variations on the same thing but wow I wish this album was instrumental, there's some serious vibes being spoiled by his vocals/vocal melodies here" [2222222222222222222222222222222222222222]
really vibed with the first song then everything after just like nah

No focus to instrumentation ? I'm confused what this means honestly. It's not like there's a metaphorical spotlight on Kevin's vocals and only that throughout the album...in fact I'd say the climaxes within many songs are due to the instrumentation and not his vocals (see: Posthumous Forgiveness, One More Hour, Breathe Deeper, Glimmer).

It's like oh bass cool, y'know how u make the bass better? Crank the bass up. Y'know how you make the kick drums better? Crank the bass up

Also forgot to mention tomorrow's Dust as an instrumental climax...the bubbling synths at 3:30 is ahhhh

I think the instrumental sections here are rad! just agh his voice doesn't work. And for the record, I was never a huge fan of it tbh

Nangs, Past Life, and Disciples are great tho. Gossip is the only throwaway on that album and even that one I kinda like

100% guilty pleasure. I think it's a cool collection of singles, her albums suck tho

Good thing is that the average songs on Currents are pretty short

“His vocal style doesn't bother me tbh, but this is the first TI album that gives so much focus to the vocals and absolutely no focus to the instrumentation“
I’d actually further that and say Kevin has spent more time and effort on the production than on the actual songwriting here. Songwriting isn’t as tight imo

Production is impeccable, that's for sure

Quite disappointing, I was prepared for a smoother, dancier album but none of the songs elevate themselves above the best from previous releases. I am a much bigger fan of Lonerism and Innerspeaker than currents, but currents still had top notch hooks and mesmerizing ideas.
Combine that with the vocals now being even more samey and exposed than ever, and the agreeably cheesy (and sometimes downright cringy) lyrics makes this feel like the weakest release yet.

There’s an instrumental version of Tomorrow’s Dust out there, it’s just called The Slow Rush. The singing doesn’t bother me though, album is fantastic.
