I wanna like this more but I can’t. too much new metal influence, feel like they sound too much like deftones/chevelle. it’s enjoyable but this is nothing groundbreaking.

The thing about these really high 4.5-5 ratings I believe are from people who strictly listen to cookie cutter metalcore bands like Wage war, Architects, BMTH and have never listened to a nu metal album before and think Loathe invented a new style lol.

“think Loathe have invented a new style”

never said they had to create a new style to have a great album, simply refining and improving on what’s been laid before can be enough to make a solid record.

plus i’ve listened to my fair share of nu metal albums, can’t really see the comparison here (aside from some deftones influence)...

Yeah can’t say that I listen to the cookie cutter metalcore bands all that often if at all... it’s just a really well-executed record that has a lot of fun moments and the record doesn’t get old with more spins.

This grew on me a bit, mostly because I keep coming back to a handful of tracks

wish I enjoyed the heavier bits on here as much as the 'gazey stuff, but I'll give it another go or two.

I've simmered down on this album a bit since release but there still ceases to be a time I don't enjoy listening to it. On a different note, I really love the drumming on here (speaking as a drummer myself). It's for sure one of my favorite albums to play through, it's so goddamn fun.
