"Harry, let's face it. And I'm not being funny, I mean no disrespect, but you're a cunt. You're a cunt now, you've always been a cunt. And, the only thing that's gonna change is that you're gonna become an even bigger cunt. Maybe have some more cunt kids." Probably one of my favorite lines in the film

One of my favourite films, best dark comedy of all time.
When Ralph Fiennes character sees the guy who's been shot in the eye and greets him with 'eye eye', cracks me up every time.

Its a good one, but I gotta go with American Psycho and The King Of Comedy as the best black comedies of all time.

This is actually better than I thought it was on first listen. Enjoying it quite a bit now. Hard to ignore some of the silly lyrics as always with Slipknot but it is what it is. Nero, Birth, Solway, Not Long, and Liar are the best tracks. I agree with the reviewer that it’s somewhat overlong. At first it bothered me hearing Corey bring back the nu metal syncopated and triplet vocal patterns but it actually does work here, most of the time.
I saw these guys live back in I think 2002, and it was explosive. I was just a kid but to date I’ve never seen a show like that. I wonder if they still try to capture that intensity on stage.

They're def not injuring themselves on stage anymore, but their live shows still kick major ass. Saw them on Aug. 3rd.

Think this was always a 1.5? Stuff like Nero Forte makes me want to drop a 0.5 on this...but then there are some okay bits

This has a few salvaging moments. Orphan is decent, but would've probably made for a superior opener. Not Long is cool. Pain is dire. Solway Firth gets a pass as well (heard that one before). Mostly (barely) passable otherwise, if not particularly interesting - as you can see the tracks I felt something for (even the most negative assessment) all came at the end, up until then I was mostly just bored. The cleans lack emotion and personality, the attempt at 'ambience' is sometimes awkward, as are the little interludes. The production isn't the most dynamic and lacks depth at times, but then what do you expect from mainstream rock/metal?
At least they've made a genuine attempt to be innovative (for them) and the album is 63 minutes long, which it didn't need to be - could've thrown out a 30-40 nostalgia trip and called it a day.
Not the worst album I've ever heard, might spin it again.

There are definitely two tiers of commercial metal/nu metal below this
I mean this isn't a 1 like the most recent Machine Head
or a 0.5 like the most recent Butcher Babies
It's a 1.5, a happy 1.5

I almost agree with it at times. Orphan and Not Long are one of my faves too. I personaly like A Liar's Funeral and Poison. I think the second part of it saves it from being formulaic, which makes it a loaf of fresh air for the band. I agree some of the melodic parts in the album lack of character...it really spoils the opening track f.e.
