True, I just happen to prefer darker material as I find it more interesting (and I mean with music, movies, TV, books, art etc). Not only do I find it more interesting, I find it generally has more substance and things to say.

But I’m not trying to be all emo and edgey and shit lol. Just my preference.

btw her EP is kinda the same style like this but a little faster and without the ballads. Also worth checking out

Some of this is really not bad. Some of it bores me to tears. Review is basically spot on. Love the production but the songs often don't meet the expectation that the dark af style implies it should.

I’m actually thankful for this album because my 12 year old daughter is listening constantly and getting into music more. There’s always that one or two bands that get you into music as a kid. It was Tool and NIN for me.

I would kill to experience something like NIN...someone who totally crashed the mainstream and over years drives so many people into heavy music without being totally hollow like nu metal. But I was too young back then

@eclipse yeah, I feel blessed to have grown up in the 90s, when rock and grunge were huge. Definitely helped form the base for my music taste. I was born in 81 so the 90s were my teenage/growing up years. Loved it. Tons of nostalgia there.

Back then, you discovered bands on MTV. When they mostly just showed music videos. In 6th grade, I saw Tool’s Sober on Headbanger’s Ball And it warped my 12 year old mind. Instantly went out and bought Opiate and Undertow. Undertow remained my favorite album for years. As for NIN, I saw the March of the Pigs video and was like this shit is intense! Who the hell are these guys? Went out and bought The Downward Spiral when it came out a few weeks later, and picked up Soundgarden’s Superunknown on the same freakin day. Man, those were the days. So much good music then.

I know there’s good music now as well, but Rock/alt Rock/alt Metal were more popular then so it was better for me.
