Honestly the bands trajectory has been leading to this, oldest material (somewhat mathcorey, very inaccessible), Hollow crown (pretty much copying BMTH metalcore template from Suicide season), Lost forever era (more accessible songs, catchy choruses), Holy hell (pop songs in disguise, with faux-prog metalcore riffs that fooled their audience into still being metalcore), new song (pop rock with heavy guitars, barely metalcore anymore)

This single does sound a lot like BMTH, weird... but looking forward to the album, hoping for some heavier stuff and I'm fine with there being a track like this as a single tbh

I think this is at least more interesting than another album in the same style.

that single is really weak. on the other side, did someone really expect them to go full prog or something like that? It was clear that they do the pop - jump sooner or later

That cover art is pretty bmth as well. Too bad, I really like Ruin, Hollow Crown, Daybreaker, Lost Forever Lost Together and most of All Our Gods.

New song is more exciting than another album like Holy Hell though

On a second listen i think Animals could become a guilty pleasure. Maybe its Sams singing rather than his samey mids. Im just glad that if this is the direction they are going in, Sam can actually sing and has the voice to pull it off.

oof. I am a forever fan of bmth from new to old and I think this new Animals single sucks. It does sound like a weaker modern cut from bmth today.

Terrible album from the start, fans just wanted the album to be good because it was album after Tom's death, it sucked but the fans tried to like it cause they sympathised with the band and Tom's death

Agreed.

Hollow Crown wasn't Architects trying to copy BMTH, however, because Architects actually finished recording the album before SS released. There is like a four-month gap between the two albums.
