1 year ago, if I were to see this #1 I probably would have rolled my eyes but I heard some singles on this and they were pretty damn catchy. Not as "country" as I thought they'd be. Gonna give the whole album a listen some day

So I dunno what to make of this album, i gotta say i am a bit biased since I saw this as the years top pick, decided to give it a go, and as good as it is and it is really good, i fail to click with it in any deep way, + user ratings seem to be pretty hit or miss as well

It’s not worthy as an AOTY pick in any way, your thoughts are justified. This album has done nothing but piss me off this year. It has to be the most obnoxious album in recent memory for me honestly.

Most obnoxious would earn less than a 2.5 from me. Gonna have to draw a line there. Unless you mean painfully average, which is an understandable sensation. Sometimes, an album feels like it shouldn't be as mediocre as it and it becomes arguably more frustrating than a flat-out bad record.

It’s obnoxious to me in that it’s gotten AOTY from everywhere. Sonically it’s okay. It wouldn’t even phase me if it hadn’t been everywhere’s AOTY otherwise lol

Ah well, I get that. Music is just such a subjective art--like most arts, really--that you have to take it with a grain of salt. Any given group of people will have various different candidates for their lists. The staff is a very small collection of users, after all, that are hardly representative of the userbase. Hell, even if they picked something super popular hereabouts like Rolo there would still be people raising pitchforks.



Not saying you shouldn't/can't be upset, I disagree with multiple choices as well. But them's the breaks by the end of the day. As it stands, I'd rather have people truly have a connection to this and be able to justify it rather than blindly follow a trend as is occasionally case.

This isn’t better than Daughters and I was fine with the ambiguous statement until you made some sort of unjustified statement. This is in NO way better than Daughters. This is vanilla and smooth and slick and as inoffensive as it gets. Daughters is quite the opposite of all of those adjectives. But whatevs. Just wish Sturgill got the same treatment when he did this same thing years ago. At least his was more palatable.
