"Compared to their first two it's just forgettable unfortunately for me"
I can understand some ppl don't like it...But is a memorable album with memorable songs, for better or worse.

This is so soothing and calm, yet there is enougj melody to keep me interested. I honestly feared this would bore me, but it doesn't, a pleasant surprise

Still not boring m/

Man this is the most boring thing they've ever made. They're playing what they want now in a bad way. Didn't they used to be a tech death band? I can't say it sounds bad its just so boring. On first listen I was like "this is The Contortionist?" I was waiting for a tempo change or something to be remotely death metal reminiscent the whole album. Extremely dissapointing. This is what I mean by playing what they want. They don't care who is disappointed. And that's a blessing and a curse. It's so soooo flat. For a "progressive rock" album, the double bass is not very bass-y and the guitar work is repetitive. Everything is BORING. Basically the synths and ambiance are the only things making it "progressive". It's in its own sub sub sub sub sub genre and it's boring.

Sometimes you have to hate an album before you grow to love it, check out Language, don't be surprised if you find yourself one day in the (probably distant) future taking this album for another spin and approaching it with a totally different mind-set, different location location etc. and see it completely differently

Yeah if you go into this record expecting deathcore it probably sucks dick
|
| |
^but how can you? Language was such a change of pace (in a good way) that it's hard to imagine people deluding themselves on this band. This album wasn't terrible, but it just didn't grab the listener. The only songs that really were incredible were the singles. The rest is a blur. I wish Michael Lessard would give more on his vocal performances.

"I wish Michael Lessard would give more on his vocal performances."
He is quite a skilled singer actually and this is my biggest gripe with this record. On Language he had at least a few vocally challenging tracks suchs as Language Part 2 or The Parable.

Oh I know he's super talented. I first experienced him when Last Chance to Reason was opening for Protest the Hero. He's the entire reason why I bought that album the next day. But the flat vocal delivery can only go for so long before it needs to be switched up.

Saw them already live when they opened for Tesseract. They certainly slayed, but Micheal was mixed too low. But now they play the headline set, i don't think this will happen again

There is nothing flat about this vocally, the guy just doesn't stretch his range. He uses his voice in a manner that he found best to suit the music, and he delivers it flawlessly. His voice is on point, tuned to a T, and never falters.
Saying his voice is flat is like saying the guitars in hardcore don't hit the top of the fretboard enough, or like saying that he's consistently off in pitch, which is entirely untrue.

Except clearly people were referring to Lessard's PERFORMANCE and NOT his pitch when they say he's flat. Which you obviously agree with to an extent when you say that he doesn't stretch his range.
I think Lessard's subdued performance is what prevents people from liking this more than they should. I mean sure, it's an artistic decision to sing a grand total of 4 different notes for an entire album (mild exaggeration), but it's also a boring one.

Agreed. Nobody was saying his pitch was flat. I do agree to your second point to a degree, but there a few songs on this record like Reimagined and The Center which rank among their best songs for me
