Like I said, it's there for me. Sometimes affected cutesy vocals are ok (some Band of Horses) but generally I'd rather not.

Listened back to the Half Moon Run debut (similar in a few ways) and much, much prefer that. This is the dreaded 'big n' bland' for me. Very glossy, very bombastic...but leaves me with nothing.

Doof do a ranking of this if you're feeling masochistic
Re: his vocals, never dug them much either. He has this wheezy tone that ruins all the melodies for me

This would be one of those where every song rates between 2-3, so a bit of a boring ranking yeah

Damn I might be in the minority of people who thinks that his weird vocal inflection that he has is what makes his voice so killer.

I mean, his vocals aren't as yelpy or visceral as in previous efforts but there's undoubtedly no shortage of emotion behind them. He sounds just as crushed and heartbroken on this record as he does on any other lol.

Andy is one of my favourite vocalists for that exact reason, the way he sounds like he's ripping his vocal chords apart when he gets loud. Moments like the end of the Grocery he's just straight up god tier. Also his quieter work on stuff like the Maze is pure honey

I used to sorta like a few songs from II by bad books and I will say this is way better than that so I am enjoying this

I like the way he forces his vocals in the loud parts but not really a big fan of the quiet tones. I mean he doesn't have a "nice" voice.

enjoyed this a bit more on a closer, second listen, but I still feel like something's kinda missing from most of it, can't quite put my finger on what yet
