My end of year lists are 90% done sitting hidden and unpublished on RYM...will probably publish the ‘Worst Of’ list on 1st December, ‘Top 60 songs of 2017’ on the 8th - the AOTY Top 100 list on the 15th.
This year I’ve just listened to everything that looked even vaguely interesting - competition is fierce.

I should probably start assembling my list soon, though I still have a lot of albums to get to which I plan to make my project for December.

This was gonna be my favourite of the year, but then the second half of 2017 started

I can’t hold off to January, undoubtedly there’ll be one late release that misses out but the minute the new year starts people’s interest in 2017 drops at least 50%.
Out of my three 5’s I’m pretty sure I’ll drop one to a 4.5 and I’m 90% decided on which album gets 1st spot. Could still change, the Destroyer is relatively new.

What's coming up this year besides the new U2

My ‘songs of the year’ list is a real doozy in particular. Much stronger than last year.

Talons, stuff drops out of nowhere. Look at the Fever Ray this month. Obviously RtJ was the one that screwed everyone over last year (well, if you like them at least).
Don’t think I’m particularly anticipating anything.

Overall I've found this year considerably weaker than last year. I've listened to more albums but found fewer impressive ones.

Apparently Bjerk is releasing something but that’ll be a 3-5 from me.
U2? A 2/5 at best you’d think.

Both years are pretty similar for me in terms of how many albums came out that really impressed

Boney - the only reason I’ve found this year stronger is I’ve listened to more, at least that’s what I expect.
I think ‘Blackstar’, despite not being my favourite of last year, carried a certain critical weight to it that no one album in 2017 commanded.
No album really pushed ahead of ‘Flotus’ last year, but my top two I’d consider its equal.
It’s the 4.5 and strong 4 standard stuff, found a lot of it - hence even great albums like this and Fleet Foxes might not even feature in my top 10.

Just did a quick count, last year I rated 30% of the albums I listened to a 4+, this year only 19%

Well that is what you'd expect - but as I said I've listened to more AND found less good stuff, which shows just how much weaker this year really is
