"All of you that think St Anger isnt hard for guitar...i hav the tab book! The tabs on mxtabs and stuff arent anywhere near!"

It's not hard on guitar at all. I also have the tab book and found everything be quite easy.

I myself, didn't detect any slipknot feel in this at all. What Slipknot songs did you think it sounded like?

I found a new feeling when listening to this yesterday. I realised that this album was sad more than anything. If this is the last thing that these guys ever make together, then its the way there going to be remebered. Not as long haired maniacs who had one of the best guitarists ever and arguably the greatest heavy metal bassist ever. There gonna be known as old guys trying to keep a hold on the crown as the kings of heavy metal, and failing miserably.

Just think, would a 15 year old James Hetfield buy this record. Would Kirk buy? Would Cliff buy it? Would Lars even look at it? Sadly I don't think they would. This Message Edited On 06.02.06

the only truly descent song on this album is frantic the rest are embaringly uinspired and truly rubbish. metallica were an awesome band from kill em all to black album and after the black album they became even worse as each album followed. rick rubin is one of the best producers around and hopefully he can ignite the fire there had a one point

i would say black album or MOP would be their best and Metallicaman8, i would say the drums and the chunkiness on the guitar had the slipknot feel to it. it wasnt bad, but nothing too great

"their time is simply over, you cant expect a band to make great music for over 20 years. In my mind they just wanted their music to stay relevant with the period."

Do you have any clue how many great bands I can name that have been making great music for at least 20 years and still are? I'll start off the list with Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, and Slayer who just got back in the studio with Dave Lombardo for the first time since 1990. :D

Seriously, I think Metallica can pull through this time, at least making a decent record. I wouldn't mind if it was another Load, just as long as it isn't another load of bs like St. Anger was to me.

I have Reload. It's pretty ok. But not by their standards.

Their standards. Thats the problem with metallica fans you go by what you've heard before and base yourself on that. St-Anger was actually the first Metallica album i got and i thought i was great. When i got their older stuff(MoP, S/T) i realised St-Anger wasn't as good. But i still think its a nice cd.

And why not go off of their standards? If a band releases something godly and then follows it up with crap, you're going to judge the album by how bad it was, and who released it. And honestly, I don't believe that you don't do the very same thing.

You can look at it the way you want. I'm just saying, in Metallica's case maybe it's better to look at every album as if you had never heard the band before and were just discovering them. But, hey, if you want to compare to their other albums. Compare away!

In an ideal world, that would be true. But people tend to grow attached to things they like, such as a band. And if that band releases crap, they also tend to take it as a slap in the face.
