If this doesn't dethrone Terminal Redux, nothing will
|
| |
No one really mentions how awesome lost is
|
| |
Also terminal redux is a total snooze, although it has its moments

to be fair, this thread has been derailed so many times no one has discussed a lot about this album.

Lost is awful... must-skip for me at least.
Seriously, it's the only reason I don't give this a 4.5

There are definitely songs here much less interesting than lost. I think the beat and sample are ridiculously infectious, and a little haunting

Goldust is good but the metronome is super irritating

The beats are great, his ability to change his voice and cadence on songs is also really cool. Has some pretty catchy hooks which is a plus but the lyrics themselves seem kind of formulaic at this point and there aren't that many lines that are memorable at all after repeated listens which is really unusual for an acclaimed rap album. The beats are the only thing that really give each individual song an identity as he's more or less saying the same things over and over (depression, sex and addiction).
Despite all that it's still an enjoyable thanks to the production and the way Danny rides the beat. I think we have yet to see his best work.
