Nick Cave's attempt to wring music from his trauma ends in wild success here. The grinding synth bass and the eerie whistling melody grant the opener an air of wary mystery that is then beautifully half-resolved in the major-key employing chorus; "I am calling you" serves as a fitting mantra throughout the record and accumulates in the more straightforward atmospheric, sweltering dirge of "I Need You." Truly Shrektacular.

I didn't realize that Nick Cave is the man on the piano on most of these tracks, but it makes the record that much more magical. - S

My head hurts trying to figure out what the argument about "overrated" is all about, everywhere I look I see nonsense trying to outdo more none sense.

"Who the fuck dropped this from a 4.6" probably the same people that troll rated Terminal Redux

"Who the fuck dropped this from a 4.6"

this 4.5 is keeping it in the top 25 all-time releases on this site, does it seriously matter? Pretty sure the point's still getting across

Just leave it at a 5. It's a arbitrary number and whatever you want to be a 5 can be a 5.

I've considered in the past changing my ratings so that only my top 3 albums are 5s and then dropping everything else by 0.5 but that just doesn't feel right.
