I would feel horrible saying all that to someone irl and wouldn't even think of it unless they said something racist or misogynistic against either gender

See I thought so, really I was just building an intentionally asinine comment off of the gradual decrease in enthusiasm for their last few albums.

Wasn't being wholly serious, though I would make an argument for it, and it applies to a lot of high profile releases not just Chevelle obv.

I was so enthusiastic about this album after the 4.5-5/5 La Gargola but this is closer to a 3 than a 3.5 even

I always get enthusiastic with their new releases at first, nothing seems to grab me though anymore aside from a couple of tracks, not since Sci-Fi crimes.

I was initially disappointed by Sci Fi Crimes for the first couple years after it came out but it's grown on me since.

the big three

1. This Type of Thinking

2. Wonder What's Next

3. La Gargola

Mine would probably be:

1- This Type of Thinking

2- Sci Fi Crimes

3- Wonder Whats Next

The whole vibe of Sci fi Crimes is just awesome to me and I can't even really pin-point why.

I feel like it has a legit sci-fi mysterious atmosphere going on, but I might just be imposing that from the title and album art.

the title and album cover had me excited thinking it was going to be a legit sci-fi mysterious atmosphere and an adventure too but that is why I didn't like it for a couple years because I feel like it absolutely doesn't deliver on what hyped it.

The part on the outro to the last song, with the harmonics, that kind of sound would have benefited the atmosphere a lot. Somehow it stuck with me though and now the whole album kind of has that vibe for me.

"Always happens with Chevelle, first week of release its their best album, so much experimentation, their heaviest, their most melodic, easy 5 out of 5s. Then a month later that sweet sweet 3.8 starts taking form."

that is actually kind of on point.
I don't know what Storm's problem is.

Just came back to this after a few months. Door to Door Cannibals, Joyride, Rivers, Young Wicked, and Punchline are all so damn catchy. Say what you will about the weak moments in the other songs but these are absolute gold. Another note, that bridge in Last Days makes that song worth all of the cringe worthy screams.

One of the best moments is going into the second verse of Young Wicked and it sounds like the whole song is ready to break apart.

Album actually keeps getting better with age. Don't understand how that's possible but I keep listening to it even six months later.

I love how Young Wicked has the feel of a newer, more modern-sounding "Another Know It All". That song could never have been a single back in the day but this one definitely brings the energy.

Considering how much this has grown off other people im relatively surprised how much i still like this. Kinda had the opposite effect on me. One of Chevelle' better records in my book

Yeah usually it's the other way for me, grows off me over time after the initial excitement. But lo and behold six months later and I'm still playing this more than any other album that came out earlier in the year (except maybe Bossk - but that one will likely be my aoty).

I mean I tried all the albums that got critically praised and hyped on both this site and Metacritic. None of them really brought the feels quite like that Bossk album.
