I discovered Fates Warning after discovering Queensryche and Dream Theater, so they initially took a back seat for me, too. That's just how that shit works, I guess. But, one stayed strong and two lost their way and now Fates is easily the best overall.

This might be in my top 3 Fates albums. It's got it all: the melody, the emotion, the technical proficiency, the profound lyrics; just a great prog-metal album without trying hard to be prog.
