"This album was a letdown along with M/M but I still get down to some Thrice."
Nah man M/M was great, this is the first time I've disliked anything by the band.

the new Gates album is way better than this.

i mean anything before vheissu, his vocals do more to hurt their music than help it
even vheissu would be good with some of his more intense clean vocals... like the "on that day, all of our scars" big part on 'for miles' could use his new gruffness to really make that part hit hard

I actually listened to Vheissu after being mildly disappointed by this and decided that era was probably the peak for his vocals, imo.

Earth Will Shake, For Miles, and Dust and Nations are about the only tracks worth listening to off of Vheissu in 2016. maybe Red Sky

his delivery just lacks a maturity that i think he got on the alchemy indexes imo

Alchemy Indexes are still, as a complete unit, probably my 2nd favorite release behind Vheissu

Beggars has some of their best songs but it's also a bit boring for stretches
Probably my 3rd or 4th fave Thrice

Wow, I don't think I realized how short this album is. Or maybe it's not that short, but it feels short to me.

it's about 41 minutes, a bit more on the average length side tbh

Surely Circles and At The Last are the best on Beggars right?! :p
To be fair, this is what I kinda love about Thrice, there's pretty much something absolutely brilliant in every album for all tastes, even if the album as a whole doesn't necessarily tick all personal boxes.

Alchemy Water and Air would be a 4.3+ average I'm sure but it's bloated too much by Fire and Earth, imo. Beggars has some of their best moments for sure, as "Circles" is probably my favorite song by the band ever. But I think this is probably their best as a whole since Vheissu

Although I don't agree with the overall statement, those are my 3 top picks too. Red Sky cemented at fourth place. For Miles is the best song they've done imo.
