Go with either the original mono mix or any stereo mix-post 1996, which was when the official stereo version first came out. Any mix claiming to be stereo from before then, including the duophonic mixes from back in the day, are just reprocessed mono.

this album is kinda frustrating for me. It starts with Wouldn't it Be Nice, probably one of the greatest songs mankind has ever conjured, and then the next 3 or 4 songs are suuuper boring. Never gets back to the level of the opener. Good album, but damn is it overrated

Nope, try again.

i think the energy of the album is not meant to all be on the same level of wouldn't it, I think it's perfect the way it is but I get what you mean. it's tempting to have all the songs be like that, but it would be comparable to a dinner of just cookies rather than a full meal if that makes any sense. it would be a bit saccharine overall

If I hate every song ive heard from the beach boys on the radio should I still check this?

Yes. It sounds nothing like their popular radio songs.

Alrighty boys and girls here's the real question,
Hang onto Your Ego vs. I Know There's an Answer
GO!
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
"i know there's an answer," no question. I've argued about this before: it's less internally consistent than "hang on to your ego" but god I'm so glad the song is not called "hang on to your ego" and that that's not the lyric to the chorus

I Know There's an Answer, easily
Ego doesn't fit into the themes of Pet Sounds as well as Answer does, plus the lyrics on Ego aren't exactly good.

it's such a buoyant chorus. "I know there's an answer" is perfect. fuck an ego
