love that album art. steven wilson is brilliant, but i find some of his stuff to be pretty meh on the whole. last thing i heard him do was storm corrosion and i wanted to love it but it just didn't do much for me ultimately

This might be my favorite of his solo works. Just a wonderful concept buffered by the variety and quality of songwriting.

you and i tend to agree on this kind of stuff, underflow. i'll give it a listen and see what i think

2013 but it's basically a tribute to 70s prog and a good one at that, so if you like that sort of thing I wouldn't pass it up.

@Gyro: Definitely, man. This album feels in many ways like a culmination of Wilson's artist output, bringing together his 70's influence, old-school PT throwbacks, some electronica and ambience, etc.
@Artuma: Raven is so, so good. Definitely could be a toss up between this and the Raven for best solo album, but I'd have to give this a slight edge for flexing a bit more creative muscle

The vocal effect when she says "water" on perfect life is incredible. I'm looking this more and more

Ancestral is one of my favorite prog songs right now. Like this is some Starless level shit.

I'm tempted to 5 this but I can't get over how in Perfect Life when the narrator says "mix tapes" it just bugs me for some reason.

Concert starts in 10 minutes, unfortunately can't photograph or take videos, which kinda makes sense given the whole concept of the album haha

It was amazing, they were very locked-in with each other and had some hilarious banter between songs. Drummer was tight as you can get, and had a few insane fills, but wasn't too flashy or showoffy. The bassist played multiple instruments, and I was surprised with how few lead guitar Wilson played, he was basically rhythm. They played mostly material from here. Sleep Together and Ancestral were massive, and the closer ballads from his last two were incredible. Show was like 2 1/2 hours and my ticket was free, so majorly lucked out.
